Path to Tortuga Bay from Puerto Ayora.
The walk from the edge of Puerto Ayora town to “Playa Brava” in Tortuga Bay is approximately 2.5 kilometers long and takes around 40 minutes.
Important: Playa Brava is not safe for swimming.
The first beach you’ll encounter, “Playa Brava”, is not recommended for swimming due to strong rip currents that can be hazardous. Only experienced surfers should use this site.
Playa Mansa: a safe place to enjoy.
However, just a 10-minute walk west along the beach, you’ll reach “Playa Mansa”, a safe spot for swimming and enjoying other water activities like snorkeling and kayaking.
Options for returning to Puerto Ayora.
If you’re feeling too tired or hot to walk back, don’t worry. There’s usually a small boat available to take you back to town.
